Launch of Fundraising Event: Strengthening Community Resilience during COVID-19 in Myanmar
To support under-served communities, especially those hit hardest by the second wave of COVID-19 in Myanmar, Prospect Burma Alumni Regional Cluster Hubs (ARCH) together with Prospect Burma are launching a Fundraising Campaign with a live event on Sunday 1 November at 18:00, at the Prospect Burma ARCH Facebook page.
The campaign is called “Strengthening Community Resilience during COVID-19 in Myanmar”. It will respond to the essential needs of vulnerable populations, including at-risk elderly persons, those living with disabilities, patients with chronic disease, and unemployed families in Yangon.
Yangon ARCH Chair, Dr. Hlaing Wai Wai Phyo says:
“The second wave of COVID-19 outbreak leaves our community more vulnerable than ever.
“As the number of infections grow, more and more Yangonites exercise stay-at-home practices and lockdowns to protect themselves from the infectious disease. But staying in a cozy house and working from home is far from the harrowing reality for the poor. They face a variety of risks, yet they are too often absent in the design of response plans.
“In these challenging times, our fundraising aims to help strengthen the community, especially those who need help the most, by providing them with essential needs including basic hygiene items and food supplies.”
Your contribution will support COVID-19 relief efforts
On Sunday 1 November 2020 at 18:00, Prospect Burma Yangon ARCH will live stream the fundraising event on its Facebook page.
The event will include a special edition Talk Show featuring notable guest speakers who work in different sectors across Myanmar – Public Health, Business and Administration. This will be followed by a special performance of award winning musicians to complete a sensational evening.
Yangon ARCH Executive Committee Communications Adviser, Nowai Linn says:
“Yangon ARCH’s tagline is ‘fill your heart with respect and kindness’. We aim to eliminate discrimination against patients with confirmed infections and help the most vulnerable communities better cope with the pandemic.
“All the contributions will go to COVID-19 relief efforts, predominantly for townships that have weak public health and social support systems, including slums in fragile situations.”
Join the fundraising event for an evening of talk show and festive performance. The programme includes two sessions. The guest speakers will talk about COVID 19 pandemic and its impacts and many other interesting topics. Then get ready to have your mind blown with the performance session!
