Buckingham Palace has confirmed that His Majesty The King is to retain his Patronage of Prospect Burma following a review of over 1,000 patronages held by The late Queen, The former Prince of Wales and The former Duchess of Cornwall.

As The former Prince of Wales, His Majesty first became the Prospect Burma’s Royal Patron in 2016, due to his long-standing interest in the people and culture of Myanmar, and the value he places on education.

Responding to the news, Prospect Burma’s Executive Director, Dr Joanna Barnard said:

“We are absolutely delighted that His Majesty King Charles III has retained his Patronage of Prospect Burma. With the increasing conflict and instability in Myanmar, our work providing its young people with access to education is vital. Many of our 1,500+ alumni, who have benefited from our higher education scholarships over the last 35 years, are now at the forefront of responding to this crisis by helping their communities with health, humanitarian and education support. His Majesty’s support is deeply valued by our trustees, staff, volunteers, alumni and students”.
